Assassin's Creed Odyssey Olympics: how to complete the side quests

It might be a global event that happens once every four years now, but the Ancient Greek Olympic games were a far cry from the modern games. However there are a few tests of physical endurance that rely on strength and technique which you must learn. This guide will take you through the steps you need to take in order to become the Olympic champion.

Delivering a Champion

This quest will be available in the seventh sequence - namely after completing the Kings of Sparta mission. You'll find a bald man in the southern part of the city of Sparta who talks about training, but he'll be the man to talk about obtaining the champion for the Olympic games. He'll direct you to the tiny islands south of Messania. On one you'll find Testikles, who as it turns out is a bit fond of the drink and is somewhat intoxicated. Still, he'll agree to come with you, so head to the dock and set sail with him on the boat to Kyllene. As you disembark, you're greeted by Alkibiades, who is wearing purple robes, who you can talk to to finish the quest.

The Contender

So after that rather embarrassing mishap, you'll be roped into participating in Testikles's place. Head to Elis, in the island of Olympia, where you'll eventually find the man to speak to in the north-east of town. After a conversation, you'll be put into the ring in the ancient sport of Pankration. Think of it as a cross between mixed martial arts and Greeco-roman wrestling. You'll be pitted against two opponents in unarmed combat one at a time, though health recovers after each match. You'll find there's a match against the current champion to come, but in the meantime it seems Alkibiades has been poisoned. This provides your hero with the revelation that Kallias - one of the judges at the Olympics, has been rigging the competition and as such is a cultist.

The Long Game

In a villa towards the south-west of Elis, on the island of Olympia, you'll find that someone has been at work killing the residents. Investigate the area, paying particular attention to the kitchen where the hamper is, the table in the kitchen with the vegetables, and a note in the pantry behind the kitchen. With the proof needed, go out of the villa into the main street and turn right. In the villa that you'll see there, you'll find the merchant you're looking for. After some intimidation, he'll reveal the location of the antidote, so go to Fort Koroibos. This is in the north-eastern part of the Elis region and is heavily guarded, though the antidote is in a small hut high up near the braiser, in a small treasure chest. Return to Alkibiades to give him the antidote.

Pankration

Meet with the tournament organiser in the north-east of town to begin the final match. Though this champion is a bigger chap, he's no more or less tricky than those you face beforehand. He does wield some knockdown attacks, so be sure to dodge those. With your victory, you'll be crowned as the Olympic champion, as well as have a new cultist to target.

That's all the side quests for this questline. Head on back to our Assassin's Creed Odyssey side quests guide for more information about another quest-line or another region's set of side quests.
